Sandrew Lee Gay King

With grace, warmth and unwavering devotion Sandrew Lee Gay King age 64 peacefully departed this life November 22, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1961, in Brickey’s, AR., to Pastor William T. Gay Sr. and Myrtle Lee Reynolds Gay.

Sandrew graduated in 1980 from Lee Senior High School in Marianna, AR. In May 2007 she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a Minor in Sociology graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA from Philander Smith College. Sandrew went on to pursue a double Master’s in Leadership Management at the University of Phoenix in 2009 and a Masters in Public Administration at the University of Stayer in 2019.

Sandrew worked at John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital for 5 years until her transition.

Sandrew confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Union Liberty Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Benny Warren. Sandrew joined Friendship Baptist Church of Granite Mountain in 2008.

Sandrew later became a member of Greater Works Christian Church under the leadership of Bishop Micheal E. Clayton, Senior Pastor and Founder. She dedicated countless hours in the ministry as she served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Ministries. Sandrew gave counsel and support to over 26 ministries. In 2009, she became the Church Secretary where she would serve Pastor Micheal E. Clayton as administrative lead for more than 8 years. Sandrew served as Chaplain of the Greater Works Music Department, lead volunteer of the outreach ministry and the photography team. Sandrew served on the PWA Committee, Voices of Victory, Sunday school teacher, facilitator of the children’s church, culinary ministry, transportation ministry drive and the cleanup facilitator.

Sandrew was preceded in death by her parents, Pastor William T. Gay Sr. and Myrtle Lee Gay. Son Rickey Lee Haywood, grandson Dylan Gibbs and sisters Ora Lee Gay Alexander and Sheila D. Gay Hampton.

She is survived by son Kenneth L. (Jacque) Haywood of Colombus Ohio, grandchildren Kenneth L. Haywood III of Alanta, GA., DeMarcus Haywood of Columbus Ohio, Amaryian Gibbs of Conway, AR, Yesenia Haywood and Favianna Haywood , Julissa Smith, Gabriel Barrios, Amari Yungai of Atlanta, GA., Athena Brito, Jon-Paul Sommerfield, Zyletka Brito and Ezekio Valenzule all of Columbus, OH., great-grandchildren Sin’clair Haywood, Marah Haywood of Atlanta, GA.

Survived by sibling Ginnie Bee Gay Backstrom (Buryl) Tucker of Marianna, AR., Pastor William T. (Sharon) Gay Jr., Brickey’s, AR., Joycelyn Gay (Clarence) McKay of Little Rock, AR., Clarice Gay Torrence of Killen, Tx., Gonzella Gay (MSgt Darrell M) of Little Rock, AR., Brother In Law Robert L. Hampton of Little Rock, AR., host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
