Ronald Oliver Johnson

Ronald Oliver Johnson (affectionally known as Ronnie) was born to the late Constance R. Johnson and Richard O. Johnson, Jr. on October 26, 1942, in Washington, D.C. He departed this life on November 30, 2025.
Ronnie was the eldest of six children. He was educated in the District of Columbia Public School System (DCPS) and graduated from Spingarn Senior High School in 1960. He also earned an associate degree at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff. He retired from the United States Air Force after 29 years.
Ronald leaves behind four Children to cherish his memory: Michael V. Johnson (Darnisa), Constance L. Johnson, Tujuana Edwards (Earl), Antoinette Johnson; seven Grand Children: Ciantique Davenport, Damon E. Edwards, Velise Burks, D’Nia E Woods (Travis), Michael V.
Johnson II (Kim), Evan J. Johnson, Dylan O. Johnson: seven Great Grands: Aylah D. Johnson, Reign G. Johnson, Preston E. Woods, Kyro A. Johnson, Roux M. Johnson, Langston T. Woods, Matteo A. Johnson.
Ronnie is also survived by four Sisters: Jacqueline “Jackie” Turner, Janice Lewis (Ronald), D. “Michelle” Williams (Vincent), Cheryl Woodfork (Raymond “Ray”) and one Brother: Michael D. Johnson, Sr. (Rumel), a host of Nephews: Donald “Tony” Mines, Kevin “Ricky” Lewis, Vincent “Derel” Williams, Dominique Williams, Darnell Woodfork, Brian Johnson, Michael D. Johnson, Jr., and Nieces: Margo Johnson, Angela”Angie” Howie, Dawn Williams, Samone Johnson; as well as a list of great, great-great nieces and nephews; cousins, other relatives and friends.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his Wife, Mattie Anna (Horton) Johnson; Father, Richard O. Johnson, Jr. (affectionally known as Dicko); Mother, Constance R. Johnson (affectionally known as Connie); and one Brother-in-Law, Floyd Turner.

A little-known Black History Fact, Ron had a nickname around the neighborhood of “Slim”. To a lot of his extended family, partly because of his Military Career, and mainly because of his Late Wife Mattie, he was also widely known as “Johnson.” He also loved Bowling and Ping Pong.

Ronald Oliver Johnson was truly loved by his family, and anyone who knew him. He was a genuinely good-hearted person who will greatly be missed. He has now received his wings. We know we have another angel in heaven looking down upon us.
