Ezell Anderson

Ezell Anderson entered into eternal rest on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Ezell was born on April 10, 1928 in Little Rock, Arkansas the son of Berry and Alberta (Braggs) Anderson. Ezell proudly served our country and was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served from 1942-1944.

On February 7, 1948 in Little Rock, Arkansas, he united in Holy Matrimony to the apple of his eye, Johnnie B. Booker. A covenant of 70 years ordained by God.

Ezell moved to Decatur, Illinois in 1968. He was owner/operator of Anderson and Sons Pest Control for 30 years. He spent many years of his life working in factories and worked Security at Millikin National Bank. He retired from Caterpillar Company in Decatur.

In the 1980’s he became a member of the Church of the Living God C.W.F.F. Temple #46 under the leadership of Bishop E.A. Morgan. He was a true servant of God and served in many capacities of the church. He served as an Usher, Board Member, Church Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and in the Men’s Department.

Ezell loved to fish, play baseball, play cards and he loved to have fun. He was known as the “Practical Joker” of the family.

Ezell leaves his legacy of 90 years well lived to his loving wife, Johnnie B. Anderson of Decatur, IL; children: Tessie Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Frances Scott of Chicago, IL, Ezell Anderson, Jr. of Sacramento, CA, Lela Washington of Chicago, IL, Lavatress Anderson of Decatur, IL, Janet Reed of Detroit, MI, Keith Anderson (Rosie) of Decatur, IL, Tyrone Anderson of Sacramento, CA, Reginald Anderson of Decatur, IL; brother, Ervin Wright of Jackson, TN; sister, Doris Bell of Jackson, TN; special friends, David Carmen and Jessie Prince, 31 grandchildren, 66 great grandchildren, 21 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and aunt, Ethel Humble.
